Fish, Bobcats land frontcourt help

Montana State boosted its front line Friday, signing Casper College forward Benson Osayande to a National Letter-of-Intent.

A 6-9, 200 lb forward called “bouncy and athletic” by Bobcat coach Brian Fish, Osayande joins the MSU program as a junior. He averaged 7.4 points and 5.4 rebounds while blocking 26 shots for a 25-9 Thunderbirds squad that advanced to the Region IX championship game. He shot 50 percent from the floor, 74 percent from the line.

“Benson really brings length and athleticism to our program,” Fish said. “He moves well and he’ll really help us on the defensive end. He can shoot it out to about 15 feet and is effective around the basket, but I really like what he brings us defensively. Benson is a different type of player than we have right now.”

Osayande joins a Bobcat team that finished 14-17 overall last season, a seven-win improvement over the previous season, and 9-9 in Big Sky play.
