On Monday evening, Montana State sent out a press release stating junior kicker Luke Daly had been suspended indefinitely. On Tuesday afternoon, the Billings Gazette reported Daly had been charged with partner or family member assault in Billings.

Greg Rachac of the Billings Gazette reported that Daly was charged Monday afternoon in Billings Municipal court. Daly pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charge, a first offense, Rachac reported.

Montana State’s press release on Monday night indicated that Daly would be suspended indefinitely. First-year head coach Jeff Choate had no comment on the situation.

According to the charging documents attained by  the Gazette, police responded to a disturbance at 5:40 p.m. on Saturday, July 30. The reporting party informed officers that Daly had punched his ex-girlfriend, the mother of his son, in the face, causing injuries according to the documents acquired by Rachac.

Documents stated that the woman had an injury to her right eye. Daly was arrested and held in the Yellowstone County Detention Facility according to Rachac’s report.

Daly earned honorable mention All-Big Sky Conference honors as a sophomore last fall. The Billings Central product tore his ACL during winter conditioning and missed the duration of Montana State’s spring drills. In two years as MSU’s starting kicker, Daly hit 21 field goals, including a freshman-record 13 during the 2014 season.

Montana State opens fall camp on Saturday morning, August 6.
