MARCUS WELNEL – linebacker – Helena Capital – Helena, Montana
The Numbers: At 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds, Welnel was essentially the Bruins utility man on defense. He spent time at linebacker, at corner and at safety, using either his size or speed to eliminate players on the other side of the ball. He finished his senior season with 91 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, one interception, nine passes broken up and two blocked kicks.
Accolades: Welnel was a first-team Class AA all-state linebacker as a senior, one year after he made the team as an honorable mention selection. Welnel was also first-team All-Western AA at linebacker.
