Griz searching for answers with rivalry game upcoming

on

The last two weeks have been — to say the least — unusual for the Montana Grizzlies.

Once, albeit briefly, atop the Big Sky Standings, the Griz are losers of four straight games in which they have played without their second-leading scorer for 1.5 games and without their leading scorer for one. Montana’s defense, the hallmark of the program since Travis DeCuire took over in May 2014, was shredded in a West Coast trip two weeks ago and bullied by two of the better players in the Big Sky on its home court last weekend

All of this preceding a suddenly alluring collision with rival Montana State, which brings five straight wins into Saturday night’s matchup at Dahlberg Arena. When Montana’s slide began, it was 5-1 in conference while the Bobcats owned a 2-4 record. Now the sixth-place Griz are staring up at the ’Cats sitting in the Big Sky’s fourth spot.
