OGDEN, Utah (January 22, 2018) – Kennedy Nicholas from Sacramento State was named this week’s #BigSkyWBB Ready Nutrition Player of the Week for her performance in two games this past week.
The junior forward was dominant for the Hornets, helping lead them to a perfect 2-0 week at home.
Nicholas shot 56.7 percent (17-30) overall last week and averaged 18.0 points, 15.0 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks per game. She had a double-double in both games this week.
In Sacramento State’s thrilling 77-76 win over Southern Utah, Nicholas scored a team-high 22 points while pulling in a career-best 20 rebounds. 10 of those rebounds came off the offensive glass. Nicholas also added three blocks, two assists, and two steals.
On Thursday of last week, Nicholas scored 15 points and collected 10 rebounds as the Hornets defeated Northern Arizona. She had a season-high three assists while collecting four blocks for the second time this season.
Nicholas has now recorded a double-double in seven games this year. Her 11.7 rebounds per game and 4.8 offensive rebounds per game are both tops in the Big Sky.
This is the second time this season that a player from Sacramento State has earned player of the week honors and the first time this year for Nicholas
