Montana hosted its 2022 spring football game in Hamilton, Montana on April 8, 2022. The Griz scrimmaged for 78 minutes.

The action included interceptions by Trajon Cotton and Corbin Walker plus a near interception by Trevin Gradney during a first half dominated by defense on both sides. In the second half, the quarterbacks continued to struggle to complete passes but came on toward the end.

Lucas Johnson hit Ryan Simpson for an 11-yard touchdown and Kris Brown lofted a 25-yard scoring toss to Aaron Fontes for the most formidable scores of the day. Fontes also tracked down Dylan Simmons from behind on what could and should’ve been a 99-yard pick-6 if not for Fontes running behind the Montana bench for most of the way tracking Simmons down.

Following the action, Montana head coach Bobby Hauck, junior linebacker Braxton Hill and Fontes, a sophomore, addressed the media.
