Binford lands Colorado post player

on

Montana State women’s basketball head coach Tricia Binford has announced that Blaire Braxton, a 6-2 forward from Highlands Ranch, Colorado, will be joining the Bobcat program this fall.

Braxton originally signed with Seattle University in November, however, a change in coaching staffs at SU gave the McDonalds All American nominee an opportunity to find a better fit.

“We are so thankful to have this second opportunity as Blaire is someone we recruited heavily out of high school before her initial commitment,” Binford said. “Blaire comes from one of the premier high schools in Colorado with a rich tradition of winning championships. Blaire is a strong and skilled post who can face up and play with her back to the basket.”

As a senior, Braxton averaged 8.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.3 steals per game on a balanced squad. During her tenure at Highlands Ranch High School, the Falcons went 67-12 overall, including a 20-2 mark last winter and a runner-up finish at the Colorado 4A State Tournament.

Braxton was a two-time All-Continental League Second-Team pick, a two-time team captain, a three-year letterwinner and was a Colorado High School Athletic Association Academic Honorable Mention selection.

“Blaire can impact a game defensively with her ability to block shots and rebound the ball,” Binford said. “Most importantly, we feel she is just a perfect fit as she is a high character student-athlete, who will contribute greatly to our culture of excellence in the community, on the court, and in the classroom.”

She is the daughter of Eileen and Keith Braxton, and her brother Zach is a member of the Weber State men’s basketball team.
