Connor Strahm, a senior middle linebacker for the University of Montana football team, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on July 15. Strahm was arrested and booked in the Missoula County Jail at 3:22 a.m.
Strahm, a third-team All-Big Sky Conference selection as a junior last season, posted $700 bail and was released later that morning. He was scheduled to appear in Municipal Court at 9:30 a.m. on July 16.
The offense is Strahm’s first, meaning the charge is a misdemeanor. A first-time DUI conviction in Montana comes with 24 hours to six months in jail and a fine of $600 to $1,000. According to court documents obtained by Dillon Kato of the Missoulian, Strahm registered a blood alcohol content reading of .214, more than 2.5 times the legal limit of 0.08 to operate a motor vehicle in Montana.
Strahm pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of DUI in a court appearance on Monday.

Strahm was pulled over near the corner of Broadway and Madison Street at 1 a.m. last Saturday because he was driving with his headlights off and one his taillights were improperly functioning according to the arresting officers.
Officers found an open Coors Light can inside the center cup holder and reported Strahm hit the curb when he was pulled over, smelled of alcohol and had “bloodshot watery eyes”. During the field sobriety test, Strahm exhibited six of six possible indications of impairment.

Montana is slated to open fall camp two weeks from Thursday on August 3.
Last season, the native of Eugene, Oregon, notched 70 tackles, second on Montana. The 22-year-old had eight tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks in his first year as a full-time starter. The 6-foot, 240-pounder is expected to be one of the top middle linebackers in the Big Sky next season.
