Idaho football: No. 5 UAlbany pulls away from No. 4 Vandals late in FCS Playoffs quarters

No. 5 UAlbany rallied from a 19-14 fourth quarter deficit to win going away, posting a 30-22 win over No. 4 Idaho in the quarterfinals of the FCS Playoffs on Dec. 9, 2023.

Reese Poffenbarger threw for 341 yards and three touchdowns while Brevin Easton hauled in 9 passes for 228 yards and all three scores as the Great Danes moved to 11-3. Idaho, who was in the quarterfinals for the first time in 30 years, saw its season end at 9-4.

The Vandals were gunning for their third 10-win season in program history and their third ever appearance in the FCS Final Four.

UAlbany head coach Greg Gattuso, sophomore quarterback Reese Poffenbarger and senior wide receiver Brevin Easton along with Idaho head coach Jason Eck plus senior wide receivers Hayden Hatten and Jermaine Jackson addressed the media following the game.
