OGDEN, Utah – Idaho State guard, Ethan Telfair, was named the Big Sky Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week after leading the Bengals to a 69-68 win over the conference-leader, Weber State on Saturday.
Telfair, a junior from Coney Island, N.Y., scored a game-high 30 points and hit the game-winner at the buzzer to lift Idaho State to victory. The win upped Idaho State’s record to 8-10 and 3-3 in Big Sky play. He scored his 30 points on 9-14 shooting from the field. He was 4-5 from the 3-point line and 8-11 from the free-throw line. He also dished out six assists and three steals in 39 minutes of action.
Idaho State rallied late in the game to earn the victory. The Bengals trailed 62-52 with 4:43 left in the game but went on 17-6 run to close out with a win. ISU was 7-9 from the foul line and Telfair scored 11 of his 30 points during the Bengals’ late rally.
Telfair is averaging 25.5 points a game in Big Sky Conference play. This is his first career Big Sky weekly honor.
