No. 2 Montana outlasted No. 7 Furman in OT to advance with a 35-28 win in the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs. The 12-win Griz are into the semis for the first time since 2011.
Clifton McDowell hit Keelan White for a 12-yard touchdown for the final margin of victory over the Paladins. UM plays the winner of NDSU at No. 3 South Dakota. Griz star Junior Bergen took the opening kickoff of the game 99 yards for a touchdown and also had a go-ahead 59-yard punt return for a TD.
Following the game, Montana head coach Bobby Hauck, senior nickel back Trajon Cotton & Bergen addressed the media, as did Furman head coach Clay Hendrix, senior center Jacob Johanning and senior defensive tackle Matt Sochovka addressed the media after finishing the season 10-3.
