on

Saturday night in Huntsville, Texas, eighth-seeded Montana State scored 28 unanswered points on the way to a 42-19 victory over top-seeded Sam Houston in the quarterfinals of the FCS Playoffs.

The win moves Montana State into the Final Four for the second year in a row after a drought of 35 years advancing that far. MSU will take on South Dakota State in Bozeman on December 18 at noon.

The first road FCS Playoff win in Bobcat history also served as the first home loss by the Bearkats in 18 home playoff games. Sam Houston had its 21-game winning streak snapped. After winning the spring national title, the 21 wins came in a single calendar year, marking the most in the history of college football.

Following the game, Montana State head coach Brent Vigen, freshman quarterback Tommy Mellott, senior wide receiver Lance McCutcheon and senior defensive end Daniel Hardy along with Sam Houston head coach K.C. Keeler and wide receiver Ife Adeyi addressed the media.
