BOZEMAN, Mont. – Topping his 27-point, six-assist, two-rebound performance in Montana State’s 81-69 win over San Jose State on Friday seemed like a tall order for Montana State guard Marcus Colbert, but he managed it on Sunday.

Scoring 29 points with six assists and three rebounds in an 83-82 win over Wyoming helped seal for Colbert Big Sky Conference Player of the Week honors, the league announced on Tuesday. Colbert scored 56 points on 18-for-31 shooting in the two games, including 5-for-9 from the three-point arc. He hit 15 of his 17 free throws, including four straight in the final 47 seconds to seal the win over the Cowboys.

“I think the ball’s moving better this year. He’s doing a better job getting downhill on the defense, he’s taking a better leadership role,” MSU head coach Brian Fish said. “Last year’s success has allowed him to handle this year’s success better. He’s probably a more balanced player, not so emotional up and down, and he’s doing a better job attacking defenses.”

Colbert’s senior season is off to a fantastic start. He averages 16.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists a game. He shoots 48 percent from the floor, 44 percent from the arc, and 75 percent from the free throw line. He leads the team in scoring, assists and steals.

This was Colbert’s second career Big Sky Player of the Week award. He and the Bobcats head to Laramie later this week for a Saturday rematch with Wyoming. Tipoff is 6 p.m. at the Arena-Auditorium.

Others Nominated: Anthony Johnson – Northern Colorado; Ali Faruq-Bey – Idaho State; Isaiah Pineiro – Portland State; Ako Kaluna – Northern Arizona; Quinton Hooker – North Dakota; Travon Langston – Southern Utah; Brandon Gfeller – Montana; Joel Bolomboy – Weber State
